As usual, I got home and prepared for my club ride with the Bicykillers, we ride every Thursday night from North Hollywood, and I didn't want to be late since it was going to be a large group tonight. On top of that, I'm training for a charity ride next month. From San Francisco to Los angeles, 545-miles of pedaling through California's most scenic routes, so I'm excited to get some good milage in.
On my way over, I rode over a sunken section of pavement on the sidewalk. I got a flat tire, but no biggie. Somehow though, in a freakish manner, I managed to somehow take impact into the frame on the drop and cracked the carbon frame.
Being my first carbon bike, and only my second road bike, this is quite a tragedy for me. I love this piece of machinery. I ride it religiously every weekend. It's my release from the work week; My escape the monotonous city environment and traffic; My time machine that propels me forward through space and time; It's my best-friend that never let me down.
For now I'll be sticking to my commuter, my old aluminum pal that's tried and true, and in the worst case scenario I'll be riding that bad boy on the charity ride (just not as lighting quick!). Hopefully the manufacturer will replace this, and I really hope they're quick about it! I'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. Wish me luck, this sucker was not cheap and for such a small hazard, it really shouldn't of snapped on me.
What can ya do? Oh well.
